The 15 foot CHALLENGER TRIMARAN was designed in 1980 by Rod Macalpine-Downie. The original design criteria was very specific - it was to build a stable boat which would enable the disabled to get afloat and, through the RYA SAILABILITY programme, CHALLENGERS have been sailed and raced by people who never thought they would have that opportunity. After various stages of evolvement, the CHALLENGER TRIMARAN MARK IIA has now been developed to achieve its full potential for safe and exhilarating sailing, for the active disabled.

The Challenger Class Association organises events throughout the season.
