The
Ready to Sail Wanderer MD comes complete with the
following:
Silver
anodised mast and boom, stainless steel rigging, shroud adjusters,
port, starboard and forestay covers from Proctor Masts. Main halyard
in pre-stretched terylene. Genoa halyard in s/s wire with soft
eye to pre-stretched terylene tail. Highfield lever to tension
genoa luff. Boom comes complete with full slab reefing equipment
fitted. Fully adjustable 12-1 cascade kicking strap with jamming
cleat now fitted as standard, with appropriately reinforced mainsail.
A standard cruising mainsail (74 sq ft) in white 4 US oz polyester,
with reefing and Cunningham cringles, number, Class insignia and
battens. Standard cruising Genoa (41 sq ft) also in white 4 US
oz polyester has an internal s/s wire luff and window.
There
is a lifting rudder with metal stock and detachable tiller with
tiller extension. Nylon blocks are fitted under the gudgeon and
pintle and all fittings are bolted through with s/s locknuts.
Terylene toe straps are adjustable fore and aft with 5mm pre-stretched
polyester rope. Marine ply floorboards with non-slip finish are
supplied with cut-outs for Super Maxi bailers, that are now fitted
as standard. A Keel band is fitted throughout the length of the
boat. Genoa fairleads, jamming cleats, drain plugs, allow mainsheet
track traveller with end chocks and control lines are all fitted.
Sheets are 10mm, 16 plait polyester and the mainsheet comes complete
with two Barton blocks.
The centreboard has a fully adjustable friction pad and is made
of 24mm selected marine ply. All fastenings are bolted through
with s/s nuts and washers that are used extensively throughout
in place of self-tappers. (For single-handed sailing or for family
cruising, Wanderer also has the option of fitting as an extra,
a galvanized steel centreplate. Weighing 85lb, this increases
substantially the already high stability of the boat making a
capsize virtually impossible.)
An
important feature of the Wanderer MD is the way in which the buoyancy
is distributed throughout the boat. In a capsize situation the
centreplate is positioned just above the waterline, making the
righting of the boat safe, quick and easy. There still remains
sufficient space in the watertight aft locker, which is securely
fastened by four chrome on brass locker catches, to accommodate
a 3.3 hp Mariner outboard engine.
With
colour-coded coachlines and boat name, the Wanderer can be completed
in the colour(s) of your choice and an attractive two-tone hull
is now recommended as standard. Experience has shown that utilising
a lighter shade (eg: lead-chromate free silver grey or ivory)
beneath the waterline of the hull, to match the deck colour, contributes
greatly to ease of future maintenance.
In
compliance with new EU Regulations, which came into force during
1998, Wanderer (with both the standard wooden centreplate and
the steel centreplate) was assessed by the RYA under stringent
Recreational Craft Directive tests and achieved EU Design Category
C Status. In addition to the statutory one-year Warranty,
every new Wanderer owner now also received an EU Certificate of
Conformity to Design Category C; together with a Builders
Certificate and a detailed and easy to follow Wanderer Handbook,
all of which form part of a very full on-the-water specification.
